An intro to the Pocket Brush, and Line Weight

[ A+ ] /[ A- ]

To get a head start on this weeks class here’s a 10 min intro to this great little tool and some basic tips on using a brush to draw for those of you new to it.

After this you might want to look at the pages on Pattern & Rendering exercises, or Applications of inking and wash techniques.

Now the think brush does like nothing else, is give you the widest control over your line weight and quality. So, what’s that for? I made a short clip about it here.

Will the ink dry the tip of the brush after use? just wondering if this requires regular washing, I’ve never used this pen.

don’t leave the cap off when you are not drawing, but as a rule you should not wash the brush pen ever.

The ink does not dry on the brush fast, and again so long as you cap it when you are not using, it’s fine.
